Merris bakery was founded over 50 years ago on the north side of
Atlanta’s industrial area. At that time our focus
was on producing breads for area markets and restaurants. We
have always been focused on producing quality baked goods at fair
prices, however this was a much more mass-market effort which precluded
some of our more delicate recipes.
As large commercial bakeries began to flourish and ship their
overly-preserved products nation-wide, we found our market rapidly
shrinking. However, our loyal customers were quick to point
out our quality and taste was far superior to mass produced baked
goods.
We changed the focus of our business to fine breads and pastries,
eventually adding chocolates and desserts to our expanding
menu. The change was an immediate success – but our
clientele was centered on the city proper.
In 1995 we moved to the famous Peachtree Street – home to
many of Atlanta’s finest restaurants and culinary
attractions. At the same time the latest generation of the
Merris family returned from the famous Gastronomicom French Culinary
School and a whole new era of Merris baking began! We now
employ twelve of the most highly trained chefs specializing in all
areas of baking, pastry, and chocolate.

Today we are proud to provide the finest baked goods available in
Atlanta! If that sounds a little pompous, we invite you to
visit – try anything from our state-of-the-art baking kitchen
and we challenge you to find anything else that can compare!
